Day 3 sunday 24th november

The race is now finished and has been a total success, one of our best championships from all points of view !
On Sunday, a cloudy and cold weather helped all dogs to run faster than in the two previous days.
Competition has been extreme in many classes and the suspens was total with, in one class, two competitors finishing with exactly the same time and both getting a gold medal.

You will find the list of FISTC European Champions at the end of this page. In Middle distance, there were very few changes in the various categories, except in A1 where Gaby Lames (Ger) âssed Jean-Luc Mas (Fra) for the title.

In sprint, most races were really exciting but particularly in B1 where Stephane Poublanc (Fra) was faster today than Arnaud Eggemann (Fra) who finished third with only 2 seconds advance from the fourth. In D1, Belgian musher Stefan Goris was fast enough to beat Andrej Drabik (Slk) and get the title. In Scooter 2 dogs, Anthony Chevalley (Fra) wins the race and the title but Ludovic Brasseur (Bel) has been the fastest on day 2 and 3 and finishes second at only 5 seconds from the first.

In Canicross 1 dog/women, two Czech ladies, Zdenka Duskova and Junior Tereza Hanusova passed the finish line together and were then declared first ex-aequo. A very rare and very nice finish1

The pricing ceremony started perfectly on time at 4 p.m. and all mushers were able to leave early and totally satisfied. Indeed these Championships in Beloeil have been a total success, thanks to the Mayor and the community, and thanks to the perfect organisation of F.B.M.F. and the club Snow Girls Team.

Now we will be waiting for the snow and the FISTC Championships in Auronzo, in February on one of the most beautiful trails existing in Europe !

Today, the weather was cloudy and cold, trails were still heavy and muddy but less wet than yesterday. All teams were happy to run and all dogs were in perfect condition at the end of the race making happy also the vet team.

In middle distance this second day confirmed the results of yesterday except in A1 category where the German lady Gaby Lames was two minutes faster than the French Jean-Luc Mas who is leading the category. In B1 class Lukas Mikulics (Aut) is the leader and very fast.

In sprint the competition is even more tough than yesterday. In A1, Roman Habasko (Cze) is first, and increased its advance on Jean-Claude Peru (Fra) and Knud Schmolz (Dk). In B1, the Belgian musher, Kevin Steensels is followed now by Arnaud Eggemann, who passed Stephane Poublanc by only one second, both from France. In C1, the same three French mushers are leading the category with Christophe Chevalley still in first place. Jean-Claude Tredez with his Greenland dogs is leader and increased his advantage on the second, Vladimir Vrastil (Cze)..

In D1 class, Andrej Drabik (Slk) and Stefan Goris (Bel) have exactly the same time after this second heat, the difference in time being only 0,06 seconds !!!. Bike 1 dog women is leaded by Virginie Brice (Bel) and Jean-Michel Hoog leads bike 1/2.

In scooter 2 dogs the leader , Anthony Chevalley (Fra) is now closely followed by the Belgian Ludovic Brasseur who was the fastest today. Scooter 1 dog is leaded by Juliette Prodhomme (Fra) while Belgian Eddy Martens is leading the scooter 1/2 category.

Canicross 2 dogs men is leaded by always very fast Slovak Marcel Matanin who increased its advantage. Another very fast Slovak, Michal Ivanco is first in canicross 1 dog and the famous czech Zdenka Duskova is still leading in canicross women. We also have the pulka class, in which the Belgian Bart Smets is nicely competing with his very beautiful Samoyed. While in canicross for these first two days we had mass starts, tomorrow they will start with the real time difference a very nice and exciting competition.

What is particularly nice is the excellent overall atmosphere due to the perfect Belgian organisation. Yesterday evening all mushers appreciate the excellent musher dinner, and this evening we will have a nice dancing night, in Belgium the motto is « Mush for Fun », even if the competition is taken very seriously !

Here we are, the third heat came to an and. Once again the weather was perfect for the dogs – cold (-3C) and cloudy. Trails remained in perfect conditions and this race gave 100% satisfaction to all participants and their dogs.
Of course Austria is the big winner with 5 gold medals and a total of 17 medals.
France takes the second place with also 5 gold medals but only 10 medals as a whole and final the excellent surprise is the third place taken by Belgium with 4 gold medals.
This race will remain in all our memories because not only it was perfectly organized and a total success but also for the friendship and great hospitality we received from our Slovenian friends.
So, goodbye Slovenia and thank you.

DAY 2 - Saturday 19 november

Cold (-3) and cloudy weather, perfect for the race and the dogs. This second day of race was at least as good as yesterday and probably even better. All dogs and their mushers enjoyed once again the beautiful trails.
We were also very impressed by the media coverage of this event with several national and local televisions and the organizer Matjaž Ovsenek on the front page of the biggest national newspaper.
In most categories this second day confirmed and often reinforced the result from the first day. In Middle distance, Gerald Schinzel (A), Roman Habasko (CZ), Alexandre Rullier (F) and Harry Braeckmans (B) are still leading their respective categories, as do Jan Pederson (DK), Pascal Gerard (F), Alexander Serdjukov (A), Laurent Blot (F), Andrej Drabik (SK) and Bernd Kirstein (D) in Cart.
The same situation takes place for the bike men classes while in bike women the Austrian Eva Pfannhauser took the first place from the Belgian Virginie Brice and we can expect an exciting third day with less than 5 s difference.
In category Scooter class 2/1 dog, Sepp Brugger (A) with 1 Greenland dog won two places and is now leader .
Tomorrow the canicross classes will no more have a mass start but instead a »chasing« start as they will start at the real time difference.
So more exciting!
This FISTC Cart Championship is really an almost perfect race.

DAY 1 - Friday 18 november

Smlednik a small and very nice community close to Ljubljana is succeeding in organizing and almost perfect European Championship Cart with the FISTC. Yesterday, Thursday, an excellent team of 3 vets have been checking most of the 114 teams that reached the place with a cold and foggy but dry weather.
Today, they had to send back home a team whose dogs vaccinations were not up to date.
Then the race started at 9.30 am still with a cold and foggy weather with the middle distance classes.
All trails for MD and Sprint are perfectly prepared. In MD A, Gerald Schinzel (A) is leading the category after the first day. In MD B the leader is Roman Habasko (CZ). MD C1 and C2 are leaded respectively by Alexandre Rullier (F) and Harry Braeckmans (B2 – Malamutes).
In sprint Jan Pedersen (DK) is first but closely followed by Karl Rachbauer (A). In B1 the French Pascal Gerard is followed by Lajos Koffer (H). The first place in D1 belongs to Andrej Drabik (SK) and in D2 to Bernd Kirstein (D).
Many concurrents are starting in the bike and scooter classes as well as in canicross. We just want to underline the outstanding performance in canicross junior of the young French girl Maylis Gerard, first in junior A ( 13 years old ) as she would also be first in the senior woman canicross.
Here are the first today in these classes:

Bike 1 men - 2 dogs: Ludovic Brasseur (B)
Bike 1 women - 1 dog: Roman Reistetter (SK)
Bike 1 women - 1 dog: Virginie Brice ( B)

FISTC Cart European Championships 2010 Reingers (A)

19th - 21st November 2010

19th November 2010 - EC Cart 2010 Day 1

Reingers, Nieder Österreich, a lovely place where the of nature goes along with the friendship of the inhabitants.
This is the place where the FISTC is organizing its 5Th European Chart Championship, the best organization we ever had! With 142 pure bread teams at start it is already a complete success, as it also linked to a perfect organization. The stake out is a model of what it should be; trails are long and though, very well adapted to such an event and all mushers enjoyed their first day of race despite cold and snowy weather, that mainly pleased all dogs!
After the first heat Manfred Komac (A) Ondrey SteJskal (CZ) and Alexandre Rullier (F, junior) are respectively leading the 3 Mid -distance classes O, B and C.
In Sprint, French teams are doing quite well with Michel Laboure leading the A class, Pascal Gerard the B1 class and Thierry Narcy the B2 class. Roman Habasco (CZ) is leading a though C1 class, while three other French, Laaurent Blot, Damien Langlois and Gwenaelle Blot are respectively leading C2, D1 and D2 classes.
In Bikejoring 2 dogs, Filippo Piccinini is first and Roman Reistetter (SK) is leading bike 1 dog. Klare Brzkova (CZ) is first in bike women 1 dog and Jasmine Kain in bike junior. Scooter 2 dogs is leaded by Klaus Baumel (A), scoter 1 by Kirstin Nitsch (D) and scooter 1 dog 2 by Romuald Schonfeld (D). Rubi Thorsten Nitsch leads the scooter junior class.
Marcel matanin (SK) is 1st in Canicross 2 dogs, Alexander Krenn (A) in canicross 1 dog and Gregory Coffre (F) in canicross Junior.
However the competion in most of these classes is really hard with very small gaps between the first teams, like in D2 where the difference between the first and second team is only 6 seconds!
Everything remains open for the next two days of this fantastic race! Exiting!!!

23th of November

Let us be honest. We have been extremely lucky with the weather expect from the storm on Friday night, that took down the internet connection in the region, and we are sorry for the late update of the news.

On Saturday evening we had the Musher evening where typical dishes from the region were served. This evening was spent in a tent in the middle of the area.

Sunday arrived with a clear blue sky and minus 8 degrees Celsius as the first scent of winter.
The trail was a bit frozen but in excellent shape and all teams did a great job.
We owe many thanks to the whole organization but especially to the trail boss and his numerous staff and officials. They simply did a great job, which also was expressed from the musher.
Schedule for the race was to end it at just after one o‘clock and it worked.

Price giving ceremony took place at 3 pm and our president closed the event with a lot of praising to the musher and their fantastic dogs, and invited all to the next EC Cart in Schonloo in the Netherlands in November 2009, which will take place over three days.

During the night we had a storm and tents and some markings and ribbons disappeared. This ment a huge job in the morning to repair every thing and remove branches from the trail. Despite this the organizers did this in due time for the first start.

Saturday arrived with light overcast and cold weather. We did see the sun, but not much. Obviously the dogs and musher liked it, as we saw some very good times in some classes.
Despite some minor problems we had a good race. Unfortunately one musher in the O class lost in the woods and lost a lot of time.

We bring the list of results here and are looking forward to another successful race day for our musher.

21st of November

Today, at the delegate meeting our president Mr. Franco Mannato welcomed all and especially said thank you to Mr. MassimoBassan and his crew for a well organized pre work. Also the major of Reingers, Austria Mr.Christian Schlosser was welcomed as this region is applying for the FISTC cart EC 2010, and he wishes to present their possibilities.

The site here in Bueriis is nice and the trail looks very good and a rather good condition though covered by water just 14 days ago: The trail has been prepared for 4 weeks and we are now looking forward to good race.
Dogs papers and equipment controls went well and almost everything was OK. Some few mushers were guided to be more perfect next year.
Have a look at this site tomorrow for results of the first day as well as some beautiful picture

FISTC European Championships Cart in Denmark 2007

Sletten, 24th-25th of November 2007

"All doping controls made in Sletten (DK) were negative, according to the results received from the German Lab who made the controls."

Final result

The second day of the European Championships Cart in Sletten (DK) was as exciting as the first day. The cold and cloudy weather was perfect for the dogs, however, trails were a little bit less fast than on Saturday due to a rainy night.

In all classes the best athletes won and titles went to many of our best mushers and runners.

A Class: Gerald Schinzel (A) is the new European Champion and Jan Pedersen (DK) is Vice-European Champion while Gert Kronholm (DK) receives the Bronze medal.
B Class: Andreas Nymark (DK) is European Champion and Michel Laboure (F) Vice-European Champion, these two teams were very close. Uwe Meyer (D), despite a 2 minutes penalty on the first day succeeded in getting the bronze medal on Sunday.
These two classes were extremely impressive and fast on such a technical and tough trail.

C1 class: Pascal Gerard (F) is European Champion, and Goetz Bramowski (D) vice-European Champion after a tough race as the bronze medal went to Kenneth Berndtsen (DK), very close at only six seconds from the second on Sunday.
C2 class: Horst Klank, European Champion with his Samojeds could not be caught by the two French teams following him with Greenland dogs. Jean Paul Caillibot (F) is vice European Champion and Jean Claude Tredez (F) received the bronze medal.
There were many beautiful Samojeds teams competing in this class.
D1 class: This was a German story, won by Heiko Tescher, gold medal in front of Eduard Kaufhold, silver medal.
D2 class: Sebastien Parent (F) is European Champion with his two Alaskan Malamutes. Nick Myhre (DK) is vice-European Champion and Ken Myhre (DK) received the bronze medal, these two teams competing with Samojeds.

Bike 1 dog: Thomas Muecke (D) is European Champion and David Carre (F) vice-Eurpoean Champion. It is to be noted that Davis is a junior. Marianne Clausen (DK) received the bronze medal.
Bike 2 dogs: This was the fastest class and the speed average was very impressive. Holger Winter (D) is European Champion and Cheda Milisavljevic (RUS) vice-European Champion. Soren Krelskov (DK) received the bronze medal, only 7 seconds faster on two days than the fourth team.
Scooter 2 dogs: A totally French podium with Jean-Baptiste Laboure (F) junior titled European Champion (another title after the ones he won in St Ulrich (A) and Auronzo (I)). Jean-Michel Santens is vice-European Champion and Julien Rullier, another junior, received the bronze medal.
Scooter 1 dog: Juliette Prodhomme (F) junior is European Champion followed by Lutz Schulte-Uebbing (D) vice-European Champion. Alexandre Rullier (F) another junior received the bronze medal.
Many junior mushers were competing with success in these classes and this is good for our sport as it shows that the future of the sport is on its way.

Cani Cross Men: Leonid Filippov (RUS) is European Champion and this was the first title won by a Russian athlete in our FISTC championships. No doubt that this is the first of a long series of titles for Russian participants in our sports when we see the very high level of performance of Russian athletes. Tim Bendsten (DK) is vice-European Champion and Lutz Schulte-Uebbing received the bronze medal, his second medal on these championships.
Cani cross women: While the first two ladies were ex-aequo after the first day, on Sunday Kerstin Nitsch (D) won the title of European Champion, and Janine Koehler (D) was vice-European Champion. Another German lady, Kerstin Muecke, received the bronze medal. It can be noted that the fourth lady, Petra Klank (D), very close to the third one was competing with Samojeds.

Arno Roos, the FISTC vet, could see that with such a good trail and good weather conditions all dogs were in excellent shape on the finish line. Several doping controls were done, very well accepted by all participants.

These FISTC Championships have been totally successful and all participants are willing to participate in the next ones that will take place in Italy next year. It was a real pleasure to be in Denmark this year and we all hope to be able to come back to meet our Danish friends quite soon.

24.11.2007

"Hello from Sletten, Denmark, where the FISTC, together with the Dansk Siberian Husky Klub (DSHK) is organicing its European Championship Cart. The place is really wonderful around a lake in the middle of a forest. Trails are in perfect conditions and extremely fast. The weather, very cold, sunny in the morning and cloudy in the afternoon was ideal for the dogs and the race. All dogs and mushers enjoyed this first day of race with participants from six countries (Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Russia) competing in 13 different classes.

In the A class, Gerald Schinzel (A) took the lead on Jan Pedersen (DK) and Gert Kronholm (DK). Day 3

Here we are, the race is now over and has been a total success !
A cloudy and cold weather helped all dogs to run faster than in the two previous days.
Competition has been extreme in many classes and the suspens was total with some time differences between the first teams below one second on the finish line.
You will find the list of FISTC European Champions at the end of this page. In Middle distance, there were very few changes in the various categories, except in C1 where Renate Barwik passed Hans Molcik for the third place.
In sprint all races were really exciting but particularly in B1 where Luca Castelletta (I) was faster today but finished second at 5”7 from Christophe Barbaro (F). In Bike 2 dogs, Matjaz Ovsenek (Slo) wins the race before Rinaldo Marioli (I). In scooter 1 dog/2, Gabor Rosner (Hun) wins the race but with only 0”9 of advantage on Sepp Brugger (A).A change of leadership took place in Canicross 1 dog/women when close to the finish line Anne Miclo (F) could pass Linda Salvagno (I) and finished with 2”.8 of advance. A very exciting final also for the Canicross junior class when in the last few meters of the race Mayliss Gerard (F) passed Ester Vaskova (SK) in order to finish with 5”.3 of advantage.
The pricing ceremony started on time at 3 p.m. and all mushers were able to leave early and almost totally satisfied.
Indeed this Championships in Farra d’Alpago have been a great success, thanks to the mayors of the five communities of the Conca d’Alpago and to the FIMSS leaded by Massimo Bassan assisted by Mario Azzalini.
Now we will be waiting for the snow and the FISTC Championships in Donovaly in February.

Day 2

Before we report on this second day of race, it is important to say a few words about the very typical evening that was organized yesterday (Friday) evening. The “Cicchettone” was extremely appreciated, you have dinner in five different restaurants, each of them giving to the participants two very typical different dishes. At the end of the night we all had eaten extremely well while drinking excellent wines. A unique opportunity to meet new friends as in our sport, friendships and sports are closely linked.
Today, once again we had a perfect weather, cold (freezing in the morning) and sunny.
In middle distance the position got yesterday on the first heat have been confirmed today, while in sprint many changes may still take place tomorrow.
In the A class, while Loris Bottega (I) confirms his leadership, Knud Schmolz (DK9) now second passed Pascal Gerard (F). In B1, C. Barbaro (F) slightly improved his first position. No changes in B2 and C classes, while in D1 Andrej Drabik (SK) and Elfie Ploder (A) are really fighting hard. In Bike 2 dogs, Rinaldo Matioli (I) has taken the leadership. In scooter 2 dog the new leader is Didier Fleury (F), while Juliette Prodhomme is still first in scooter 1 dog. The scooter 1 dog/2 the new leader is now Gabor Rosner (Hun), with his Greenlanddog “Darius”. In the Bike 1 dog, Filippo Piccinini has overtaken Roman Reistetter (SK) who was leading yesterday. In Bike women, Alena Smolikova increased her advantage on the second.
The canicross 2 dogs class is still leaded by the Junior Samuel Matanin (SK) while another Slovak, Michal Ivanco leads the canicross 1 dog class. Linda Salvagno (I) continues to lead the canicross women class while Mayliss Gerard and Ester Vaskova, juniors, are just separated by 0.8 seconds after this secon heat.
Tomorrow, as usual on the third day, the canicross runners will start with the real difference in time and the first on the finish line will be the winner.
We expect a fantastic third heat tomorrow with the same weather and we will then have succeeded in having a fantastic championship.

Results list of the second heat

Day 1

Yesterday evening we officially started these European Championships Cart in Farra d’Alpago, very nice city on this magnificent Alpago area on the Santa Croce lake. At the opening ceremony we were pleased to be welcomed by the 5 mayors of the 5 villages of the Conca d’Alpago who are totally invested for the total success of this big event.

This morning we had to remove the ice from car windscreen… But all mushers and dogs were so happy to stay in these beautiful mountains with a splendid sunny weather and cold temperatures. A real dream for our dogs:

In all sprint categories results, at least for the first three are very close. The leaders tonight are:

The canicross 2 dogs is leaded by a junior, Samuel Matanin (SK); the canicross 1 dog by Michal Ivanco (SK); canicross 1 dog women by Linda Salvagno (I) and the canicross junior by Mayliss Gerard (F). It can be noted that the first three young girls in canicross junior are together within 25 seconds, and are also more than one minute faster than the first lady in canicross women, on the same distances.
Tomorrow at 10am will start the second heat, very exciting in almost all classes. However, before that, tonight all mushers and many visitors will have the opportunity to taste local specialties in a tour of 5 restaurants where we will go one after the other… We will report also on that tomorrow.
