FISTC European Championship MD / LT 2016

 SACHTICKY (SK) 18-21 February 2016

Sunday 21st February

Yesterday evening we have had a nice musher dinner and dancing party offered by our Slovak hosts to all participants. In addition it has been snowing all night long and this morning all trails were in perfect conditions. Just a bit slower than yesterday.

In these conditions most positions were confirmed today.

For the longtrailers the new snow made the trail heavier and they enjoyed sledding with their dogs for a longer time. In LT-O the European Champion is Martin Brzek (CZ) and the Silver medal is won by Dieter Gramberger (A). Another Czech, Peter Gurega, musher wins the LT2 class and second is the French Gilles Bigot.

In Middle distance all mushers were happy with the new trail conditions. In Pulka, the title goes to Michel Decouteix (F) and his leader C Igor: In SJ 2 dogs, another Czech Jakub Urban wins the title and the Gold medal, while Slovaks get the silver medal with Igor Stefan and the Bronwe medal with Patrik Lucansky. In SJ 1 dog, the European Champion is Jan Neger (SK), silver medal goes to Roman Reistetter (SK) and bronze medal to Alexander Nesterov (RUS) with his Samojed named Ulrika. Junior Carla Reistetterova (SK) wins both the senior and junior medals in SJ women, silver medal going to Lenka Bickosova, also Slovak.

All sleds have been slower than yesterday, even Jean Combazard (F) who has been flying with his ten Siberian Huskies in MD O at an average speed of 20 km per hour over the all race. Second to him the excellent Roman Habasko (CZ), silver medal.

In A1 Class Doris Prohaska (A) wins the title and second is another Austrian lady, Renate Barwick. In A2 the French Thierry Narcy wins the title. In B1, the Slovak Maros Litvaj wins the title while the Silver medal goes to Richard Burda (CZ). Another Czech musher, Zbigniew Heczko wins the gold medal and the title with his six Greenland dogs: Second and silver medal is Vojta Nemec with six Samojeds, while the bronze medal goes to Nathalie Mannato (F) and her six Greenland dogs, followed by two Hungarian teams of Malamutes.

On the shorter trail of 23 km the C1 class the Italian Filippo Piccinini is the winner and European Champion, closely followed by the Frech Didier Fleury, silver medal and by Lukas Klima (CZ) bronze medal. In C2, Alain Diffort (F) wins the title, followed by ZuzanaDansova (CZ). In D1 the title goes to Blanka Csizmadia (HUN), while in D2 the French Junior wins the title and the silver medal goes to Harry Braeckmans (B).

Finally this has been an excellent Championship that all participants praised. Branislav Slany and all his team have been doings a fantastic work and all the organisers have been congratulated by all participants for their work and their friendliness.

This year the FISTC succeeded in organising all its championships and they all were big successes.
